Digitization in the banking environment
From loser to pioneer of digitisationErgon Informatik AG was represented at Lucerne University through a lecture that explored the new challenges faced by companies in the course of digitisation. Using the banking environment as an example, it was shown how an industry that was seen as a loser in digitisation was able to show up all critics and, thanks to a clever adaptation, turned into a winner.
New directives such as PSD2 now require banks to open up and call for the introduction of API programming interfaces and API platforms for FinTechs. Due to these developments, it’s no longer sufficient to have the security concept of a fortress which has a single entrance and is tightly closed all around. That may be very secure, but it slows down all processes and significantly impairs the customer experience. Particularly when using digital content, costumers can be scared off by too many security mechanisms and hurdles.
The new principle must consist of automated, flexible and policy-oriented IT security so as not to miss the advantages of digitisation, including speed and simplicity. A centralised solution, which brings all the relevant security components from a single source in a coordinated manner, is particularly suitable here. The Airlock Secure Access Hub serves as a good example as it bundles the web application firewall (WAF), identity and access management (cIAM), and API gateway and can thus function as a complete solution which is ready to use and easy to install
