What does the status code 200 OK mean?

“200 OK” is the status code of a successfully processed HTTP request. HTTP is the standard protocol for transferring web pages between browsers and web servers. Other common status codes are:

  • 404 Not Found: The requested content was not found.
  • 403 Forbidden: Access to the requested content is prohibited.
  • 500 Internal Server Error: A general server error has occurred.
  • 302 Found (Redirect): The requested resource was temporarily redirected to another URL.
  • 401 Unauthorized: Access to the requested content requires authentication.
  • 503 Service Unavailable: The server is temporarily unavailable, often due to overload or maintenance.
